I was honoured to be asked to provide media coverage of the Plymouth Respect Festival in 2015.
My role was to provide media coverage leading up to and during the festival with the aim of spreading awareness.
I refreshed the design and information on the festival website, Facebook and Twitter channels, which were all displaying information from the previous year’s festival. I then kept all the media up to date with a campaign of latest news/information, building engagement and followers across the various forms of media to encourage people to take part and visit the Festival over the weekend of the 20-21st June 2015.
During the weekend itself I was on site providing live coverage via the festival’s website http://plymouthrespectfestival.blogspot.co.uk/, Facebook group www.facebook.com/groups/plymouthrespectfestival/ & Twitter @plymouthrespect channel using photography and video to capture the many aspects of the festival from live music, world food, work shops, dance acts and more…
It was a great weekend enjoyed by lots of people and I’m looking forward to next year!
About the festival
The Plymouth Respect Festival is an annual celebration of the city’s diverse culture and has been organised by the Plymouth and District Racial Equality Council for the past 14 years. It’s a colourful blend of cultures, giving people of full flavour of the international diversity the city of Plymouth has to offer and aiming to entertain and educate in equal measure.
Dan Thompson – Plymouth Respect Festival Director: Just a quick note to say many many thanks for your hard work and commitment in bringing the Plymouth Respect festival into the 21st century with a fantastic social media campaign, I have known that we need to do this for a few years now but you really went beyond the cause.
It was a pleasure working with you and I feel the impact of your work was felt far and wide I had many great comments from our supports and I am sure you helped us reach many new friends of Respect.
The pre work was fantastic but at the actual event your enthusiasm and ability to document so much was really appreciated.
A sample of a few photos and videos I took on the day of the festival…
Refreshing the Respect Festival Website (before / after)
I gave the website http://plymouthrespectfestival.blogspot.co.uk/ a revamp to match the colourful aspect of the festival.
